Boo on school

School started this week and I only have 17 weeks standing between me and my masters degree. That's a very happy and yet frightening notion. Considering the economy I kind of wish that I still had time to spare to languish around UT's campus and postpone the onset of 'real life'. On the other hand, I've had enough of working nearly full time for no money and having to complete a full load of school work on a regular basis on top of that.
Here's hoping that when I get out of school that I'll have more than a diploma to show for it.

Chi-Town 2009, or, I survived Chicago's coldest week in 13 years

UT's advertising graduate council made a pilgrimage to the advertising nerve center - Chicago. Chicago was amazing; we ate some deep dish pizza, saw some of the local landmarks - the Bean and Wrigley field- and visited some of the most famous ad agencies in the country. Even though the job market is pretty bleak right now, it's reassuring to know that these agencies still stand and weather the recession. Razorfish and Google were by far the most impressive businesses that we visited. They were so well prepared for our visit and really made our groups feel welcome and valued. I hope that in six months they're as accommodating, meaning that they give me a job. Let's just say that I'm not holding my breath.

Jesse + Tequila = Disaster

Jesse and I went to San Antonio on Friday for the first 'First Friday' of 2009. We toured a bunch of art galleries, ate some local cuisine, checked out one of the sweetest bars I've ever been to - La Tuna, and saw the lights on the River Walk. We walked from our hotel to the Mercado and drank some extremely potent margaritas which resulted in the above pictures. Jesse, literally watched as margarita poured all over his lap. Touche tequila.

New Year's Eve Nonsense

Jesse and I had a fairly subdued New Year's Eve. He was sick with the flu, so I cooked dinner, he picked up some champagne and we spent the evening playing scrabble by ourselves. (I won by the way!) Close to midnight we decided to commemorate the evening by using the handy photobooth application on his Macbook. After taking these lovely photos we sent them to all our other friends who we knew to be spending the evening at home. Surprisingly, several of them sent photos back within a few minutes. This sparked a bit of creative competition that resulted in the photo at the top which features Jesse, me, Steve, Jessica and Shorty all in one photo from our vacation to South Texas. God bless photoshop and Happy New Year to all.
